Given the current weather forecast for Saturday the Branch officers would urge members to use common sense when choosing their mode of transport. Obviously we want to see a large turnout but we would rather everyone stay safe, no-one will think any the worse of you if you turn up in a car!

In recognition of the continued selfless dedication by members from the Branch, who at extremely short notice and regardless of the weather turn out for the Repatriation of our fallen Service personnel, we are honoured to have been offered the Union Flag that flew in the Carterton Memorial Garden, into our safe keeping. The Flag having recently been replaced with a new one.
The Presentation will be made by Cllr Norman MacRae, Armed Forces Champion West Oxford District Council.
Parking will be adjacent to Broadshires Health Centre (Linky Thing) Please Note the Sports Pavillion is NOT available to us on the day.
There will be no inclement weather plan.. If it rains we will be getting wet.
For those travelling some distance and wishing to stay locally There are hotels around the area but very limited in Carterton. (Linky Thing)

Ladies & Gents. I have today secured a deal with a local hostelry who are prepared to open their doors from 10:30 am and allow you to warm and catch up with all and sundry whilst enjoying a Bacon or Sausage Bap and a cup of Coffee for the measly sum of 5 of our Great British Pounds.
The Hostelry in question is The Chequers, 17 Station Rd, Brize Norton, Carterton OX18 3PR (Linky Thing)
Stands up from the Chequers at 12:15 for the short ride to parking before assembly at the Memorial Garden. Approx 4 minute walk.
1030-1215: RV at The Chequers 17 Station Road, Brize Norton, OX18 3PR, which will be opening earlier than normal, for the sale of Bacon Butties Tea and Coffee (£5 per head).
1200hrs: Dignitaries and escorting RBLR Branch Officers to arrive at the Memorial Garden for the RBLR Ride Past.
1215hrs: Riders depart The Chequers as a Group and head to Car Park A past the Guests and Dignitaries at the Memorial Garden. Lead Rider Derek Bradshaw.
1230hrs: Riders and all other visitors to be at the Memorial Garden.
1245hrs: March on the Standards.
1255rs: Act of Remembrance and 2 minute silence conducted by Mr Derek Bradshaw, RBLR Branch Oxfordshire County Representative.
1300hrs: Service of Remembrance conducted by Branch Padre Paul Miles-Knight.
1320hrs: Presentation of the Union Flag by Mr Norman MacRae, Armed Forces Champion, West Oxfordshire District Council, Lynda Atkins, Oxfordshire County Chair and Mr Bill Oddy, West Oxfordshire District Council Senior Officer who, essentially, brought the Memorial Garden into being, to Mr Steve Blundell RBLR Branch, Repatriation Liaison or in his absence to Mr Ian McLauchlan RBLR Branch President.
1330hrs: Kohima Epitaph and closure conducted by Mr Neil Rogers, RBLR Branch Chairman.
1345hrs: End of event.
Following the event, The Royal British Legion Riders Branch warmly invites all members and guests to return to the Chequers for a light buffet and or the purchase of other meals drinks etc.

It is with great pleasure that I can announce the 2019 National Rally will be held in Wales.
The facilities at the club are excellent. The main building is split into an upstairs concert room and a downstairs bar with conservatory. The club has a kitchen and will be cooking breakfast, lunch and evening meal. There is also a local Indian restaurant close by that will give a discount to the Riders.
There will be 24hr access to showers and toilets, also a tea/coffee room that will also have 24hr access.
There is sufficient secure hard standing for parking of the motorcycles (camping is on the practice pitch and therefore motorcycles will not be allowed by the tents.We also have an area for those who use a campervan/motorhome. Ticket Price £20 in advance, £25 on the gate as normal, there will be musical entertainment on the Friday and Saturday Night, A Ride-out for Saturday (we have a number of routes, which one will be decided by the weather, as you all know the sun always shines in Wales)
Phil T will be organising rideouts on some great riding roads and for the race fans amongst you the (in)famous Aberdare Park Race meeting is the same weekend, about 20min ride north from the rally site. http://www.aberdare-park-road-races.co.uk. The local racers call it AberSCARE.
Fancy Dress Theme – As the Rally is being held at a rugby club, it has been decided to have a ‘SPORTS’ theme. Use your imagination, there’s more to sport than Moto GP and football.
12.00 – Rally officially starts.

10.00 – Rideout Brief
10.30 – Rideout Starts (Ride out info on separate thread)

Please write your RBL membership number on the back of the cheque and include a Stamped Addressed Envelope for the return of your tickets.
The cut off Date for Postal Tickets is 6 July 2019.

Starlight invites seriously and terminally ill children – along with their parents and siblings – to join us for a day which includes rides in helicopters and light aircraft, on bikes and in sports cars and a variety of other fun activities. Many of the children come from local hospitals and some of the children are having Starlight Wishes.
The Popham Escape is only possible because everything is donated by the various contributors on the day.
